Toilet Less Than 12 Inches Wall

Any more or less than that and you ll need a toilet designed specifically for this distance. The minimum distance in front of the toilet when facing a wall or fixture is 21 inches. Watersense labeled toilets use at least 20 less water than standard 1 6 gallon toilets. The more room the better but don t make it any smaller than the minimum.

These 12 toilets i recommend just barely fit a 11 rough in. Is there an 11 inch model that we could consider. Ideally measure directly from the wall. The most standard rough in dimension is 12 inches but some toilets call for a 10 inch or 14 inch rough in.

It is almost impossible for a two piece and elongated toilet to have an overall length of less than 27 inches. The standard rough in is 12 inches though you may encounter 10 inch and 14 inch rough ins in older homes. We have11 inches only. Confirm the rough in dimension with the toilet installation instructions or manufacturer.

The main reason is the bowl will have a platform to support the tank. Round toilet bowls extend up to 28 inches from the wall. Rough in size is measured from the wall and not from any baseboard or molding. The standard distance is 12 inches but most toilet designs can accommodate a distance of 11 to 13 inches.

This is to be expected as round bowl toilets are generally shorter than the elongated ones. Some builders like to leave an extra 1 2 inch from the back wall to ensure a comfortable fit. It appears standard toilets are 12 inches from the opening to the wall. Its 3 inch flush valve is chemically resistant and blows water into the bowl at high pressure.

This prompted a question about choosing a toilet to install from reader collette. Round bowls require less space making them a good toilet for small bathrooms. If your rough in is less than 11 inch like a 10 7 8 or a 10 3 4 inch rough in you ll probably not be able to install the 12 inch toilets you buy. Both round front and 10 inch rough in will take much less space than other models with elongated front and 12 inch rough in.

Elongated toilet bowls measure up to 31 inches from the wall behind the toilet to the front of the bowl. And that could easily take up a good 3 to 4 inches of valuable length space. Elongated bowls provide greater comfort while seated. That will most likely be a 10 or 14 inch rough in model.
