We have a trane xr80 furnace and trane xe1000 ac we just cleaned and changed the filters. After once again changing the air filter i replaced the flame sensor with a replacement part i purchased from the local trane parts store. Modern gas or oil fired furnaces have several safety sensors that check on furnace operation.
